Mr. V.L. Patankar, after graduating in Civil Engineering discipline from University of Roorkee in 1976, started his career as Assistant Executive Engineer in the Bridge Directorate in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. He worked at various levels in the Ministry both at HQ and Regional Offices before superannuation in July, 2014 at the level of Addle Director General when he was holding the charge of Director General (Road Development). He also served as Member (Technical) in National Highways Authority of India and was involved in implementation of various prestigious National Highway Development Projects across country. He has more than 39 years’ experience in Policy formulation, Planning, Design, Construction, Maintenance and Management of Highways projects.
Mr. V L Patankar has worked as member on various policy committees in the Ministry on various subjects including Manual for Standard and Specifications for four laning / six laning under PPP Mode, Review of Standard Bidding documents and Contract documents both for Public funded and PPP Projects, Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) Technology for use on National Highways etc. He is also Member of various Technical Committees of the Indian Road Congress.
Post superannuation in July, 2014, Mr. Patankar was appointed as Director in Indian Academy of Highway Engineers, NOIDA (UP) for a tenure of three years, where he served up to July, 2017.
