The proximity to Chennai and Ennore ports and start of the Chennai-Kolkata National Highway-5 makes Chennai-Tada project one of the most strategically important initiatives for the growth and progress of trade and commerce in the state of Tamil Nadu. The SPV L&T Chennai Tada Tollway Ltd. (L&T CTTL) is a 100% shareholding company of L&T IDPL & is responsible for designing, engineering, funding, construction, operations and maintenance of the 43.34 km road that connects Chennai to Tada on NH5 in Andhra Pradesh. The project cost of INR 8.48 billion includes the six laning of the highway on DBFOT pattern, along with the construction of a Toll Plaza. L&T CTTL has started the commercial operations in April 2009 and as per the Concession Agreement signed with NHAI, the project has a Concession Period of 15 years.
