Vadodara and Bharuch are the two cities in Gujarat State, known for their rapid strides in industrialization. The cities boast of industries like cotton textile, chemical, machinery, ink, glass, furniture and consumer goods with the entire belt between these two cities encompassing a vast expanse of industrial hubs. The 83.3-km stretch on NH 8 between Vadodara and Bharuch is part of the Golden Quadrilateral and, therefore, forms an important link between the capital state of Delhi and the commercial capital of the country - Mumbai.
The scope of this INR 14.5 billion L&T Vadodara-Bharuch Tollway Limited (L&T VBTL) project included the widening of the existing four-lane road to six-lane divided road with amenities and support infrastructure. A superb facility with uniquely designed Toll Plazas - the L&T VBTL stands tall for “Imagineering of L & T” – a testimony of engineering excellence. L&T VBTL, an SPV with 100% shareholding by L&T-IDPL, completed the construction of this project well ahead of the scheduled completion date and commenced its commercial operations in June 2009. The Company will operate and maintain the road stretch for a concession period of 15 years.
