The L&T logo comprises two elements - the monogram and the name of the company in
its distinctive typeface.
The L&T monogram, when used independently of the name, virtually symbolizes the
organization. Its striking characteristics are geometrical precision, clarity and
ease of identification. Its sharp contours reflect the precision that is a hallmark
of L&T's products. The 60 degree tilt of the letters 'L' and 'T' suggest dynamism
and a continuing forward thrust.
Company history has it that the monogram was designed by a Danish engineer - Otto
Begtrup-Hansen in the early 40's when L&T began its foray into manufacturing. Since
then, the monogram has featured on a host of products - from tiny switchgear to
the worlds biggest FCC regenerator. It has traveled across the seas to the many
countries to which L&T supplies high-tech engineering equipment and systems and
forms part of the signage in L&T's global network of offices. Wherever it is seen,
it has come to be associated with the values that the Company stands for - quality,
trust and reliability.
