L&T Great Eastern Highway Limited (L&T GEHL), SPV of L&T IDPL has signed the Concession Agreement with National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for development of Jalgaon to Maharashtra-Gujarat border of NH-6 in Maharashtra into a world-class four lane highway. This 209 km stretch, is among the longest projects in the country bid out on DBFOT basis. The stretch is a prominent East-West connector, connecting hubs of economic activity like Gujarat & Maharashtra in the West to the mineral rich states like Orissa & Chattisgarh in the Eastern part of the country.
Currently, the road is in two-lane configuration and has to be widened to four lanes along with other facilities like bypasses, flyovers, underpasses, bridges, etc. The project was bid out among stiff competition comprising of 17 bidders. L&T GEHL will design, engineer, fund, construct, operate and maintain the road stretch for the period of concession which is 20 years, including the construction period of 30 months. The project is currently in Development phase & is expected to start construction as soon as Appointed Date is declared by NHAI.
